David left school at 16, after leaving school David served a 5 year apprenticeship in Foundry
Pattern Making, with a local Company, James Maude & Co Ltd, Mansfield, Notts, David attended Derby College on day release during this period.

David started his own Pattern Making Business in 1988, producing general engineering patterns. David’s love of steam engines has grown since the age of two. Also as an integral part of the business David has supplied ferrous and non-ferrous castings for Steam engineering, Agricultural & other restoration projects. David has produced replacement parts in the steam preservation movement for over 25 years.
